Restoring the Soul of Our Institutions
About Deberry
Rev. Deberry P. Cook is a prophetic storyteller, preacher, and chaplain whose ministry is defined by presence over platitudes and dignity over diagnosis.
At the height of COVID-19, she served as the only chaplain in her hospital — standing in rooms heavy with grief, offering whispered blessings through layers of PPE.
“I was covered while I cared. Protected while I prayed. Present in the storm — and still standing.”
Her mission is to restore the sacredness of goodbye, to remind institutions that end-of-life care is not optional — it’s holy.
Through her work, Deberry calls hospitals, courts, shelters, and schools to moral repair — to remember that ceremony, compassion, and justice are the foundation of every human system.

A Reflection Journal by Deberry
At the height of COVID-19, I stood alone as the only chaplain in my hospital.
No protocol. No backup. Just grief, chaos, and a calling to show up.
I whispered blessings through layers of PPE, prayed with exhausted nurses, and held sacred space for staff.
In the absence of family, I became presence.
This is more than memory — it’s ministry.
Chaplaincy is not comfort from the margins; it is sacred leadership at the heart of trauma.
“To hospitals, courtrooms, schools, and shelters: make room for chaplains. Make room for ritual. Because no one should die alone — and no one should serve alone either.”
“I show up where systems ache — because healing begins with presence.”
The Sacred Threshold

Deberry’s forthcoming book is a prophetic testimony for institutional healing.
Drawing from real case studies, legal-theological analysis, and visual motifs, it confronts systemic neglect and honors those who died alone during COVID-19.
It is not just a book — it is a call to action.
Through narrative, ceremony, and critique, Deberry re-imagines hospitals, courtrooms, and classrooms as sacred thresholds where trauma can be transformed into moral repair.
“This book invites every institution to remember:
End-of-life care is not a medical moment — it’s a sacred one.”
“I show up where systems ache — because healing begins with presence.”
On my social networks, I talk about entrepreneurship, productivity, and personal development. I'll tell you everything I have done with my company and share the growth strategies that we use with our clients.
